Your Morgan & Teach floor will be finished with the most intelligently designed, practical, and advanced finish in the marketplace. It’s interesting and exciting how back to nature products are becoming advancements over industrial products and methodologies.
One of the most unique and convenient features of a Morgan & Teach plank floor is our factory pre-finish. Our finish is impregnated deep into the wood and fills the pores of the plank so there’s no worry of wearing through the finish. To refresh the finish in traffic areas or damaged spots simply wipe on with a rag and buff off. The nice thing about this is there is no inconvenience or unhealthy saw dust, finish dust, or noxious chemicals that can pollute the indoor environment and create a mess. Additionally there is never any fear of wearing the floor down to some “engineered” plywood layer or to the nails in the tongue. The only time we think refinishing would be required is in the event of a major catastrophe. For high traffic commercial refreshing the finish can be very easily maintained on a scheduled basis by janitorial staff.
Our finish also aids in stabilizing the floor as the planks are finished and impregnated on all sides making it very water repellent yet able to breath and release any absorbed moisture. Our rustic mahogany floor shown on this page clearly demonstrates the superior water repellency of our finish.
Milling & Fit
The photo also shows one of our milling options of squared edge plank versus our beveled edge plank shown in other photos on the website. Our fit and finish is quite unlike any other in the industry and your floor will come pre-sanded and finished to a glasslike smooth unless otherwise specified.
Whenever possible we recommend a rounded edge or a beveled edge floor as it allows for natural expansion and contraction in the plank without any visual disturbance. This type of floor will give you the greatest latitude or flexibility in interior design as it fits equally well in any design genre from ultra modern to rustic, from traditional to country, from colonial to continental, and from West Indian to Asian. Since our floors have been designed to have a timeless authentic look, we have designed our finish to avoid the look of plastic, acrylic or poly decoupage, which can create excessive glare and can become easily outdated. Our finish is designed to enhance the depth of the wood grain and color and not to glare back out at you. Our floors visually draw your eye in doing proper justice to the natural beauty of the wood. This is based upon the essential rules of the visual fine arts including photography and painting as well as the historically accurate usage and treatment of wide plank flooring and the finest hand crafted furniture.
